What People Say
"It is a privilege to offer public gratitude to you, Bambi, for your wisdom and kindness. As you know, I came to a website you frequented. My Being was heartbroken and weary from having both deeply loved while trying to follow my moral compass. I had failed the compass part and most of the midlife site participants, equally heartbroken in their different ways, were understandably compelled to note my horrendous flaws. Day after tearful day, Bambi. You, however, saw something different. You saw me. You didn't excuse my missteps, but saw my heart and my intentions. This raw insight and wisdom inspired me to stay the course and be my best. I clung to my path not because of the floggings but because of a wisdom-keeper. At my lowest, I was my own worse critic and needed an extended hand, a compassionate heart and reasoned intellect.
The news came out of left field for me. 22 years, 3 kids, countless vacations, laughs, memories. Gone in an instant. He loved me but wasn't in love with me. He wanted the best for me but it wasn't him anymore. It was him, not me. All the cliches. What wasn't cliche was the hope and honesty I found working with Bambi. She cuts through the BS, keeps you laser focused. I've never really met someone who can (virtually) grab you by the shoulders and shake you while at the same time giving you the biggest, warmest hugs. From moment one, you gave me the greatest invaluable gift - the hope that I would be okay. And I am. I really am.
How do you thank someone for helping you see how strong you are? Or that you really are worthy of love and understanding. That you don't deserve to be mistreated just so others can feel happy. You helped me make big changes, changes I never imagined I'd make. If these few words can help you, I'm delighted to offer them.
"My marriage was falling apart after 17 years. I didn't know what to do or where to turn. And then I found a website and on that website I found a voice that I needed to hear. Bambiβs guidance was no-nonsense, seemingly so logical and sensible you had to ask yourself why you hadn't thought of it. When I started feeling sorry for myself or diving in the pity bucket, I knew I could count on her for a gentle hand when I needed it and even more, for the kick in the pants when I needed that too."
My Path Along The Yellow Brick Road
I was married 22 years. Around year 20 is when my husband withdrew, began an affair, and my world imploded. I was a work-from-home mom to three teens, one who was going through major challenges. When I say my world imploded, I'm not exaggerating. I barely slept, hardly ate (lost 60 pounds in 3 months). I made ALL the wrong choices. All of them. That I was never arrested is a miracle. Simultaneously, I began to search for calm, clarity, confidence, and courage. They were sparse and hard to come by. My ex was a man who didn't want to talk about it. I'm a talk-about-it-er. Eventually, I filed for divorce when the reality hit me that this wasn't going to get better, it wasn't going to change, and I couldn't keep living my life on wishes. I did have one wish I held on to -- that there had been someone to walk me through it. To advise me on finances (I walked away with nothing), navigating the emotional pitfalls (I dug those holes deeper), and to sometimes, just reassure me that I was going to be okay. I went to school and became a mental health therapist and worked a lot with women's gender groups and women struggling with addiction. I eventually decided coaching was a better fit for me and received a certification as a Transformational Life Coach, Grief Coach, and finally found the great folks at Divorce Coaches Academy and became a certified alternative dispute resolution/divorce coach. But I'm still a woman navigating life as a single person. I have to confess, I love it. And I love coaching. I love meeting the wonderful women I've worked with over the years who welcomed me onto their team. I'm here to be part of YOUR team. Because the next chapter of your life deserves more than survival. It deserves you. π πβ¨
